77 more die at Covid units in seven Bangladesh districts

At least 77 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in seven districts in Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Sunday morning.

The districts are Khulna, Rajshshi, Kushtia, Chuadanga, Barishal, Chattogram, and Mymensingh.

Reports received from the districts said that 47 of the deceased were Covid patients while 30 of them had symptoms.

Of the deceased, 18 died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, 12 in Kushtia, seven in Chuadanga, 11 in Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, 15 in Clhattogram, two in Khulna and  12 more patients died in Mymensingh Medical College Hospital during the time.

New Age Staff Correspondent in Rajshahi, quoting Rajshshi Medical College Hospital director Brigadier Shameem Yazdany, reported that 18 patients died at the hospital’s Covid unit in the past 24 hours. Of them, six were Covid patients and 12 had symptoms.

In Khulna, one Covid patient died each at Gazi Medical College Hospital and Shaheed Sheikh Abu Naser Specialised Hospital, New Age correspondent in the district, quoting officials of the hospitals, reported.

New Age Islamic University correspondent, quoting Kushtia civil surgeon Anowarul Islam, reported that 11 Covid patients and another with symptoms died in the district Covid Dedicated Hospital during the time.

In Chuadanga, four Covid patients and three others having symptoms died at the Covid unit of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital during the time, Chuadanga civil surgeon ASM Maruf said.

Our Correspondent in Barishal, referring to a release by Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, reported that a total of 11 patients — two Covid patients and nine having symptoms — died at the hospital’s Covid unit in the past 24 hours ending 8:00am on Sunday.

New Age correspondent in Chattogram, quoting the district civil surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, reported that a total of 15 Covid positive patients died at hospitals in Chattogram in past 24 hours.

New Age correspondent in Mymensingh, quoting the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital’s Covid unit focal person Mahiuddin Khan Moon, reported that seven Covid patients and five others with symptoms died in the Covid unit of MMCH during the time.
